Taipei

Hey! After a week long wait, here's my Taipei entry. :)

~Start Trip~

November 26, 2005, Saturday
Ok. So, we woke up at around four in the morning because we had to get to the airport at around 5:30 because our flight was at 7:30. We had no breakfast so by the time we got to the airport, I was ravenous. But, we didn't get to eat until after we got on the plane. We took quite some time to check-in because there was a long line and the security was quite strict. Anyways, as everyone knows, airplane food sucks (if you don't, then I'm telling you now) so I only ate the bread and spread butter on it. Then, I started to sleep because we still had 45 minutes left before we got to Taipei.

When we got there, we got out quite fast. There were these sort of annoying people because they were like kids who just got to a new place and wanted to run around and all that. Anyways...we then rode this bus that was supplied (hired as our private vehicle) by the trip's...um...organizer? So, yeah. It was big, coster size and there were only 10 people (driver included) in it. Cool, huh?

So after that, we went to a mall called Breeze Center. Note: All malls there are top class. When you say mall, it means it's a high caliber mall, like Podium. Going back. We visited this store called Build-a-Bear Workshop and it's like the local Dress-a-Bear, except it's WAAAAAY better than that. Not only do you get to dress the bear, but you get to stuff it, put a voice, and buy underwear, shorts, skirts, pants, shirts, blouses, jackets, bags, shoes, and all kinds of accessories for your bear. After that, we ate at this restaurant whose name I don't know. :P I couldn't read the name... :P

We then went to the National Museum and it was pretty cool. I found the displays quite intriguing. I especially loved the Seals of the Emperors and the Calligraphy displays. There was also this display where there were all kinds of Buddha figurines / statues and others of the sort (ex. boddhisatvas)

After that, we went to ISIS (I swear I'm suprised), a five-star motel (didn't know there were ratings for motels) which was owned by Ate Ming's former boss. It was relly cool because each room had a different theme. Example, there was this room that was Moulin Rouge-ish, and a room that was Star Wars-ish. There was also a room that was Little Mermaid inspired, and a Chanel (the fashion brand) inspired room. I think it was a really awesome idea to change the theme of the roms for a ore intimate and romantic getaway. But not only are the themes cool, but each room has either a big plasma TV, or a projector like TV. And the have really big beds (I'm guessing they were king sized beds) and an awfully large bathtub / jacuzzi in each room. Isn't it awesome?!

November 27, 2005, Sunday
We went to church and met with our "tour guides", Sir-Kuya Tony and Sir-Kuya Bob at the Chiang-Kai Shek memorial. It was a memorial, as the name implies. It had a display on Chiang-Kai Shek and a huge statue of Chiank-Kai Shek sitting. After tht, we went to Lung-Shan Temple and paid our respects to their gods (Buddha and all his "saints"). Then we rode the MRT to the Sun Yat Sen Memorial. It was like Chiank-Kai Shek's except it was for Sun Yat Sen and not Chiang-Kai Shek :P

After that, we went to Taipei 101, the tallest building in the world. Not only are they the tallest building in the world, but they also possess the fastest elevator in the world. The elevator goes up to 1010 m/s (or is it 1010 m/min?) and it takes only 37 seconds to get from the 5th floor to the 89th floor.

Then, we went to a Night Market (Night Markets are popular and Taipei is quite populated with them) where we ate stinky tofu. And did it stink! I sort of never want to it eat it ever again, even if I love tofu. Anyways, the products being sold there weren't very cheap, but it could do. Also, they don't have much shops where they sell souvenirs or anything of the sort. Kind of sucks actually... :P

November 28, 2005, Monday
We went to Leofoo Village, which is an amusement park. It's a cross between Star City and Enchanted Kingdom because some rides were like the rides in Star City (but Star City's rides were better than those rides) and some rides were like rides in Enchanted Kingdom (but some Leofoo's rides, like their Rio Grande equivalent, was better than the one in EK). It was fun and I was soaking wet after that day. The ride Raging Rapids, which is like EK's Rio Grande, was uber fun! And since there were no rides, we rode it two times. So, after that, we were all WET to the bones. We also rode Deep Sea Adventure, which is like Octopus, yet better, and it was sooooooo fun. Darianne, my sister, absoluetely loved it. :)

After checking in at a new hotel, we ate at Sushi Express which is this sushi house which serves it's food on revolving platforms (like the ones you see in cartoons in a bakery where there's this route the food follow so they'll be cooked automatically without workers doing anything). Anyway, whatever it's called, you just take what you want but you can't put it back because once you eat it of take a sniff or do anything that would contminate the food, it's considered bought. And all the food costs the same. :)

November 29, 2005, Tuesday
Our last day! We went to Window on China which is sort of this miniature world theme park. They have these cool miniature displays (which you can't really count as a display because you walk through the display like you're actually going around the world) of the whole world! Well, not the whole world, but pretty much all of it. They had China, where you could see the Great Wall of China, and they had America, where you could see Mount Rushmore. They also had Europe, where you could see the Acropolis (Athens, Greece), and they had Taiwan and Asia.

After this, we went to the airport. But we were early so we were treated to Burger King first. The Burger King there is elf-service. It was mondo cool. :) Anyways, after eating, we checked in and then we looked round the inside of the airport. We looked round the Duty Free, where they had free internet connection, and we looked at a bookstore. :) After that, we rode our plane and then we went home.

~End Trip~

So, there it is. :) A short account of our Taipei trip. :) Well, I got to go, so I'll see you all laterz. :)
