Excited for the UP AME Fair

Image
The University of the Philippines Anime Manga Enthusiasts (UP AME) will be having their UP AME Fair entitled AME Track 10 , in celebration of their 10th year. I, along with a few UPM friends (and hopefully my boyfriend), will be attending tomorrow and I am oh so excited! And because my UPM friends and I miss each other, we'll also be having lunch out at SM Mall of Asia before proceeding to the UP AME Fair. Hopefully, everyone will be there to make things all so fun! What was the last book you read?

The last book I read was Ten Things I Love About You by my favorite romance author, Julia Quinn. It's her recently released book and it's the third book in her Bevelstoke series (the first being The Secret Diaries of Miranda Cheever and the second being What Happens in London). It's a wonderful read. I wasn't totally in love with Annabel Winslow but I did enjoy that she wasn't "thin". As the book describes her, she has quite the bosom and hips that are perfect for childbearing. I did love Sebastian Grey though. He was very charming and he's an author to boot! For those who haven't read Julia Quinn's works, I invite you to do so, especially if you like historical romances. But you'd better start with the Bridgerton series (which is a series of eight books!) because I believe it's her masterpiece. Ask me anything, I dare you! XD

Gratitude Post - August 02, 2010

There's this app on Facebook called God Wants You to Know . It generates a random message for you everyday you visit the app that the app makers call a message from God. I decided to see what "God wanted me to know today" and got this: God wants you to know that you will feel better if you notice the sweetness of life. Notice the smiles of children, the songs of the birds, the caress of the sun's warmth. This sweetness is for you. Allow it to soothe your soul and bring a smile to your face. Because of the message, I decided that I would create a gratitude post for today. After all, there's always something to be thankful for everyday despite the bad things that are happening around.   1. Koi, for proof-reading my Thesis Topic Proposal I am lacking only the proposal of a thesis topic plus my thesis for graduation. After I have finished both of them, I will finally be able to graduate after 8 - yes 8 - long years in college. Because of the difficulty I have i

Something Salty, Something Sweet - On Favorite Comfort Food

Image
Oven roasted french fries I'm not exactly sure what my favorite comfort food is. I have different food that I want to eat to comfort me when I am depressed. Sometimes I crave for something salty, sometimes something sweet. For the sweet food, it would be a toss-up between gummy bears, ice cream, and dark chocolate. All of them make me very happy in different ways. I love the sweet tangy taste of gummy bears, the sweet taste mixed with the soft coldness of the ice cream, and the rich semi-sweet taste of dark chocolate. For salty food, as unhealthy as they might be, it would be a toss-up between french fries, McDonald's Sausage McMuffin, and plain Lay's with a cheese salsa dip. Because these food are not very healthy, I only eat them rarely (especially in the case of Sausage McMuffin because it's only available during breakfast at McDonald's) so getting to eat them on a day I'm sad cheers me up.

What would your dream job look like?

My dream job changes every now and then but I think that my long standing dream job is to be an author. It has been a dream of mine since I was in high school. I used to feel very confident about my writing but looking back upon it now, I know that I haven't been very critical in my assessment of my writing. But since I know better now, and I want to continue pursuing writing (even as a hobby), I've started to write again to hone my skills and hopefully improve them. I'm trying to practice and write something, anything that comes to mind, every day so that my drive for writing comes back. I'm still passionate about it but since I haven't written in a long time, my drive has lessened. Hopefully (wishing with all my heart), someday, I'll be able to write a children's or young adult story (long enough to be a book) and be published. :) Ask me anything, I dare you! XD

Cooking for Mikko's Birthday

Image
Soba Soup with Crunchy Tofu Squares (c)Yummy and Summit Media Because it was Mikko's birthday yesterday and I barely had money to buy him a gift, I decided to make him a Japanese lunch as my gift to him. Along with cooking for him, I also decided to include as my gift, teaching him how to make California Maki. Our lunch started late because I wasn't able to buy some of the other ingredients earlier, but I'm glad that he enjoyed the meal and the lesson. For our Japanese lunch, our menu consisted of: Yakimeshi (Japanese Fried Rice) Tonkatsu (Breaded Pork Chops) Soba Soup with Crunchy Tofu Squares California Maki The meal was quite heavy and I realized after we ate that I still overestimated the amount of food I cooked. I'm learning though so it's all good. The whole process was tiring, even with help from our helpers, but very enjoyable. I find myself really loving cooking which is making me want to take up Culinary Arts sometime in the future. Well, if I can&

Which would be worse, to live as a monster or to die as a good person?

There's this new anime I'm watching called "High School of the Dead" which is somewhat reminiscent of Resident Evil. Society has collapsed because of the outbreak of zombies which puts the main characters in a constant state of moral dilemma. /*SPOILER ALERT*/ In the pilot episode of the series, the friend of one of the main characters (and is the boyfriend of another main character) asks that he be thrown from the roof of the school before he turns into a zombie. He tells the main character that he'd rather die a a human being than to become a zombie. /*END SPOILER*/ I think that to die as a good person could never be worse as to living your life as a monster. We might not exactly mean to "live" as monster in the sense of fiction (like a Frankenstein monster or a zombie or a demon), but living as a monster, disregarding your morals as a human being, I would never wish to become that. You might as well be a zombie, if you won't use your brains

If you could choose, how would you want to die?

From old age probably? Who would want to die a horrible, painful death? I want a peaceful death where I'd die because it was my time. Something like, going to a peaceful sleep and not waking up. :) Ask me anything, I dare you! XD

Who's the funniest person you know?

The funniest person I know would be a tie between Mikko (koi! <3), Mikki (Gran gran!), Hernie, and John Louie! They all can make me laugh really easily. But really, it's very easy to make me laugh. But I think they're the funniest people I know. :D Ask me anything, I dare you! XD

If you could attend any concert, what would it be?

My first choice right now would be Panic! at the Disco and it really sucks that I missed their last concert here in the Philippines because who knows how long it'll be before their next concert here. My next choice is The Hush Sound, which probably might never happen since they're not a famous band here in the Philippines, but I totally love their songs. They're with Fueled by Ramen (http://fueledbyramen.tumblr.com/), the same people behind Panic! at the Disco, Fall Out Boy, Paramore, and Gym Class Heroes, among other bands. After this would be *N Sync (I know you'll probably call me corny) because they're my favorite boy band and I know this is definitely impossible considering the fact that they've long disbanded. Let me hear from you guys. :) Ask me anything, I dare you! XD

What one thing are you exceptionally good at?

Negative: being lazy Positive: cooking! XD Sing for me?

What's the most unselfish thing you've ever done?

I'm not sure. I think I've done lots of unselfish things but I can't really think of the most unselfish thing I've ever done. Sing for me?

What do you think is the best way to defeat terrorism?

Spread love and peace around the world! :D Sing for me?

What TV show do you wish would go off the air for good?

Kappa Mikey whose name I don't know how to spell? It's this cartoon on Nickelodeon that's shown every night around 11:00 in the evening. I don't like that show. DX Sing for me?
